Tourist claims Madeleine McCann sighting: she screams ‘I want my Daddy’

A tourist, who does not want to be named, says he believes he sighted Madeleine McCann while he was in Bosnia. The tourist, from North Ireland, said he spotted a little blonde girl with a dark headed couple at a shrine near Mostar.

He says he heard the little girl scream ‘I want my Daddy’ as the couple struggled to control her. When he tried to help the little girl, she was “thrown” into a car.

Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, have maintained that their daughter was abducted from their holiday apartment in Portugal and is still alive. The sighting comes after Portuguese police say they believe the 4-year-old is dead.

The tourist took down the license plate number of the car the girl was thrown into and went to local police for help. He said the police were unable to be of any help because of translation problems. He said he went back to Ireland and told police before calling the McCann hotline.

“He was 99.9% sure this girl did not belong to this couple. She was in distress and he went over because he wasn’t happy with the way they were treating her. Then he heard the little girl say, ‘I want my daddy,’” said the McCann’s spokesman Clarence Mitchell. “This chilled him to the bone – but he had the presence of mind to get down the number plate. He told local police but there was a problem with translation and nothing really happened.”
