The government has recalled 1.2 million highchairs
manufactured by Graco Children’s Products. The recall affects all “Harmony”
highchairs.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says screws
attaching the legs to the chair can “loosen and fallout” causing the legs to crack
or the chair to “tip over unexpectedly.” The regulatory agency has received 24
reports of children being injured due to the faulty legs.
"We take great pride in the quality and safety of
our products, and as such, we are disappointed with the performance of the
Harmony High Chair," Graco said in a statement. "In the case of
Harmony, we have worked closely with the CPSC to identify and provide an
appropriate fix. We are confident that we have come up with a solution that
will improve the performance of this chair."
Anyone using the affected chairs is advised to contact
Graco for a repair kit at 1-800-345-4109.
