The #2 Villanova Wildcats avoided one of the biggest upsets in NCAA Tournament history on Thursday, clawing their way back and eventually getting past the #15 Robert Morris Colonials 73-70 in overtime in South Region action.
Villanova was simply brutal from the floor, shooting just 35% on the day with Scottie Reynolds leading the way in futility hitting just two of his 15 shots. While Reynolds hit just two buckets he managed to finish with 20 points thanks to a 15-16 performance from the foul-line. The Cats were also helped out by Mouphtaou Yarou who finished the day with 17 points and 8 rebounds.
Karon Abraham led the Colonials with 23 points in the loss.
Villanova will now face the winner of the Richmond-St. Mary’s matchup.
