NCAA Tournament College Basketball South Region Scores: #3 Baylor Bears Hold Off #14 Sam Houston State to Advance

The #3 Baylor Bears needed a late surge to get past #14 Sam Houston State on Thursday, turning back a determined Bearkats squad 68-59 to advance to the second round of the South Region.

Baylor was led by Ekpe Udoh who scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while LaceDarius Dunn added 13 points and 6 assists.

Sam Houston State did an admirable job staying close despite a dismal 6-31 shooting from beyond the three-point line and a 7-13 performance from the charity stripe. Gilberto Clavell led the Bearkats with 23 points in the loss.

Baylor will now face Old Dominion in the second round of South Region action.
