Inmate Takes Dental Assistant Hostage in Wisconsin, Prison Under Lockdown

An inmate at the Waupun Correctional Institution in Waupun, Wisconsin took a dental assistant hostage this morning leading authorities to place the prison on lockdown while the situation is addressed.

The 37-year-old inmate grabbed the female dental assistant earlier this morning and has confined himself to one room in the maximum security prison.

According to prison officials, the inmate worked in the Health and Segregation Complex, the same area as his hostage.

There have been no reports of injuries to either the dental assistant or the prisoner.

Waupun Correctional Institution has 1, 246 prisoners, all males.
