Washington Admits to Drug Use

Baseball Manager Admits to Drug History

Last year, Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington tested positive for cocaine use. More recently, he has announced that he used amphetamines and marijuana during his playing career. Washington did not say how often he used amphetamines during his MLB career, but he did say about his former marijuana use that "It was not an ongoing thing... I was young and didn't know better." As for cocaine, he said he only used it once. The Rangers general manager, who claims that the team's players knew about Washington's drug use as a player, has said that 57-year old Washington will not lose his job. After his announcement, Washington said "I made some mistakes in my younger days and I just want to get past it...I want to move forward."

Washington is a former MLB player and coach who played most of his career with the
