U.S. President Barack Obama Calls Congressional Healthcare Reform Vote “Historic”

Addressing a large crowd in Virginia on Friday U.S. President Barack Obama appealed to congressional representatives as well as citizens, attempting to drum up further support for his healthcare reform proposals just ahead of Sunday’s highly anticipated vote.

Obama called the congressional vote “historic” and urged lawmakers to support legislation that would provide insurance to more than 30 million Americans currently uninsured.

To the Republicans argument Obama told supporters that the country can’t afford not to support healthcare reform. In fact, according to Obama, the healthcare reforms would bring “our deficit down by more than one trillion dollars over the next two decades.”
