Pacquiao Beats Clottey But Loses Concert

Manny Pacquiao may have drawn in tens of thousands of fans to watch him fight Joshua Clottey on March 13th, but poor ticket sales have forced the cancellation of a concert in which Pacquiao was scheduled to sing. The Pacquiao-Clottey fight brought in a crowd of over 45,000, which was the largest crowd to see a fight in the United States in 17 years.  Manny defended his WBO World Welterweight title in what was a rather one-sided fight, after which he was declared the winner by a unanimous decision.But the success and result of that match-up were not particularly big surprises. After all, Pacquiao is considered by many to be the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world. Out of 56 total professional fights, he has now won 51, including 38 by knockout. Earlier this year, he was attempting to set a date for a fight against the undefeated former WBC Welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., but that never fell through because Pacquiao refused to submit to drug tests that that Mayweather camp were trying to impose. And so was born the Pacquiao-Clottey fight. Pacquiao had announced before the fight that he would sing after the fight in celebration, but his success in the ring is apparently not enough to make people go to hear him sing. The concert only sold 603 tickets before it was canceled. Even if he never becomes known for his singing, Manny Pacquiao is arguably the best welterweight boxer of our time and undeniably one of the best boxers of all time.
