2010 NCAA College Basketball Tournament Scores: Korie Lucious Sinks Triple as Time Expires Lift #5 Michigan State Past #4 Maryland

Korie Lucious sank a three-pointer as time expired to lift the #5 Michigan State Spartans past the #4 Maryland Terrapins 85-83 on Sunday, punching their ticket to the Sweet 16 where they will now face the Northern Iowa Panthers.

Lucious’ triple came just seconds after Maryland took an 83-82 lead following a driving bucket from Greivis Vasquez. Without showing any concern the Spartans rushed the ball down the court and Draymond Green found Lucious just beyond the arch and with a quick dribble to his left he went up and buried the jumper for the win.

The Spartans had an 80-71 lead with less than two minutes left but a furious rally by the Terrapins shifted the game as Vasquez scored eight points during a 10-0 run to put Maryland in front 81-80 with 39 seconds left. Michigan State would reclaim the lead on a Green jumper with 22 seconds on the clock but Vasquez hit what looked to be the game winner with 6 seconds left only to see Lucious bury the jumper as time expired.

Vasquez finished with 26 points in a losing effort while Durrell Summers led the Spartans with 26 points.
