“American Idol” may have been the big winner on Sunday night as a pair of their former contestants captured three honors each at the American Music Awards held at the Nokia Theatre.
Carrie Underwood, “American Idol” season four winner, captured wins as Favorite Female Country Artist, Favorite Country Album, and got the nod in the T-Mobile text-in vote.
It’s been a great month for Underwood as the 24-year-old snagged three awards at the CMA awards earlier this month.
Proving you don’t have to win “American Idol” to find success in music Chris Daughtry led his band, Daughtry, to three awards on Sunday as well. The fourth place finisher in season five of “Idol” won for Favorite Pop-Rock Album, Breakthrough Artist, and Adult Contemporary Artist on Sunday.
