Fran Townsend resigns from Bush Administration

Fran Townsend, White House terrorism and homeland security advisor, has become the latest official of the Bush administration to resign. As George Bush’s eight year run in the presidential office comes to an end several other top White House officials have resigned including top aid Karl Rove, press secretary Tony Snow, and senior presidential advisor Dan Bartlett.

President Bush released a statement praising Townsend for her role in the anti-terror strategies. “Fran has always provided wise counsel on how best to protect the American people from the threat of terrorism. She has been a steady leader in the effort to prevent and disrupt attacks and to better respond natural disasters,” said Bush.

There is no word on who will replace Townsend.
