Democrats Secure Votes for Healthcare Reform Legislation, President Barack Obama Expected to Sign as Early as Tuesday

The Democrats managed to pass their healthcare reform legislation through the House of Representatives on Sunday evening, opening the door for President Barack Obama to sign the measure into law as early as Tuesday.

As part of Sunday’s historic vote Democrats say an additional 32 million Americans will now have healthcare but those who opposed the measure vowed to continue their challenge, calling the bill too expensive.

Obama, along with senior Democrats, had been campaigning strongly for the healthcare reform proposals over the past few weeks and on Sunday they managed to secure enough votes to push the measure through.

Shortly after the vote House Republican leader John Boehner said “We have failed to listen to America... This body moves forward against their will. Shame on us.”

As part of the new healthcare reforms nearly all Americans will be extended coverage while new taxes on the wealthy will be imposed to shore up some of the cost.
