CaymanMama- Reports that Pakistan textile export dips as government imposes emergency in the country

extile exports have shown a downward trend as the Pakistan faces uncertain political crises.

Karachi, Pakistan (CaymanMama.com) November 18, 2007 Karachi: Pakistan Textile exports have shown a downward trend as the country’s government imposed emergency for an indefinite period to control the law and order situation in the country. Imposing restrictions on the press, media and the judiciary in the country, the President defends imposition of emergency as being necessary step for the stability of the country.

The buyers of all textile goods have stepped away in these uncertain economic conditions as people, the press and the judicial lobby has taken to street and the importer fear that their orders for clothing and textiles will not be timely fulfilled in a country where economic and political stability is the key issue.

The foreign buyers were already searching for new avenues to import textile products as the biggest industrial of the country Karachi has already being facing extreme shortages of electricity to run their factories. The manufacturers have already been facing losses in terms of order cancellation as they could not meet the shipment deadline. The imposition of emergency has added fuel to fire. Now the buyers of textile products are weighing their option and are fearful to travel to Pakistan due to riots, bombing and other acts of terrorism in the country.

“Emergency state in the country has worsened the situation and the buyers of textile products are not comfortable in buying good from Pakistan.” This was stated by Mr. Farooq Afzal, CEO, Integrated Textile Network, who are very well know for the services in acting as buying and sourcing agents for textile products.
