Five Reasons why people don't consider getting a hearing aid
Reason #1: They don't think they have a hearing loss.
About 10% of the population has a hearing loss. Obviously, the older we get the more common of a problem it is. Look over the following questions:
Do you ask others to repeat what they have said? Do other people complain because the TV is too loud? Is it hard to understand conversation when there is background noise? Do you miss comments during telephone conversations and have difficulty hearing the doorbell? Avoid going to noisy places? Respond incorrectly to what people say? Have you been told by other people that you miss a lot? Do members of your family having hearing problems? Have you worked in noisy environments? Do you have ringing in your ears? If you answered yes to more than one of these questions, you probably have a hearing loss and need to see a doctor to get checked out.
Reason #2: Hearing Aids costs too much.
Hearing loss comes with 2 costs. The first is the actual monetary cost of hearing aids and the second is the quality of life costs. The quality of life costs cannot be easily measured. Can we put a price on hearing our loved ones? Or hearing the beautiful sounds of nature: birds, rivers and the wind? Helen Keller said it well: “deafness separates us from people." Openfit.com is here to help with with both the cost of hearing aids and the value of hearing. Our hearing aids costs around $2000 for a pair of hearing aids. This is the same quality digital hearing aids that you could buy locally for a lot more. Buy hearing aids online at openfit.com and save!
Reason #3: Hearing Aids are too bulky.
Hearing aids have advanced a lot since the days when they were big and bulky. Openfit.com is an internet leader in open fit hearing aids. Openfit hearing aids means that no custom molding is required. Just a few years ago, all hearing aids had to be built to the user's ears. Openfit hearing aids use soft domes that sit inside the ear canal. These domes are interchangeable. If you have larger ear canals, you can easily use a larger dome on the hearing aid. Best of all, these hearing aids are so small and light-weight you forget that you are wearing them!
Reason #4: Hearing Aids make me feel old.
We would like to suggest that not having hearing aids when you need them makes you feel old. Recently, a customer told us about his experience. He is suffering from a hearing loss but has been able to manage it by using an amplified phone and by reading lips in one-on-one situations. However, he had a large sales meeting where a speaker-phone was located in the center of the table. During the meeting, he was not able to hear everything that was going on and had to constantly ask: What was that? Can you repeat that? He left the meeting frustrated and embarrassed. At that moment, the felt old.
Reason #5: Bad experiences
Everyone knows someone that purchased a hearing aid in the past and now the hearing aids sit in a drawer or have been thrown away. There are generally two reasons why this happens. First, the hearing aids of today are a lot better quality and produce a much more natural sound that hearing aids from just a few years ago. The hearing aids from just five years ago do not compare to the hearing aids of today.
Another factor is people have gotten hearing aids but were never able to get the hearing aids adjusted properly. Some sounds always sounded too loud and other sounds always sounded too soft. At openfit.com, we have solved this problem. All of our digital hearing aids are consumer programmable. When you buy a set of digital hearing aids from us, we include the hardware, software and support needed to do all of the programming yourself on your computer! Welcome to the future of hearing care.
