Infantino Baby Slings Recalled after Deaths Reported

More than one million Infantino baby slings are being recalled in the United States and Canada after three deaths caused by suffocation were attributed to the infant product.

According to Infantino president Jack Vresics the recall was being made to address concerns expressed by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Those concerns surround the sling’s fabric which can press against the infant’s nose and mouth, blocking their ability to breath.

The Infantino baby sling recall involves two infant carriers, the Infantino SlingRider as well as the Wendy Bellissimo. As part of the recall Infantino has announced it will be offering replacement products.

The CPSC issued an advisory warning “consumers to immediately stop using these slings for infants younger than four months of age due to a risk of suffocation and contact Infantino for a free replacement product.”
