Adjusted net loss for the quarter was $3.2 million or $0.07 per share, compared with a profit of $1.60 million or $0.05 per share a year-ago.

 

Analysts were expecting the company to report a loss of 3 cents a share.

 

General Mills, Inc. (NYSE:GIS) fell 0.80% to $72.98 after the company reported a 15% jump in net income for the third-quarter. EPS for the quarter were 96 cents. Excluding items, third-quarter earnings totaled 97 cents a share, 3 cents higher than the expected 94 cents a share. Sales grew 3% to $3.63 billion.

 

Lennar Corporation (NYSE:LEN) jumped 5% to $17.89 after the company reported an improved loss in its fiscal first quarter fueled by reduced construction costs and lower sales incentives. The company reported net loss of $6.5 million, or 4 cents a share, compared to $155.9 million, or 98 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue decreased 3.1% to $574.4 million.

 

Analysts were expecting the company to report earnings of 32 cents a share on revenue of $566.9 million.

 

China Unicom (Hong Kong) Limited (ADR) (NYSE:CHU) fell 5% to $11.58 after it said its 2009 net income dropped 73% from a year earlier, because the prior year's results included one-off gains from the sale of its cellular phone business to China Telecom as part of a government-directed industry realignment. Net income for the year totaled 9.56 billion yuan ($1.4 billion) versus 35.40 billion yuan in the previous year. The results were below average forecasts for a profit of 10.16 billion yuan, according to a poll by Dow Jones Newswires.

 

 

Unilife Corporation (NASDAQ:UNIS) fell 5% to $6.47 after the company posted a worse than expected loss for the second quarter. During the quarter, the company had a net loss of $3.2 million or $0.07 per share, compared to a loss of $0.861 million or $0.03 per share a year-ago. Net revenues for the quarter declined to $3.2 million from $5.8 million for the same period in 2008.
