Oceanview Publishing is pleased to announce that two of its titles have been named award winners in the 2007 Royal Palm Literary Awards. Among those titles winning awards are:
The Perfect Assassin by Ward Larsen - first prize winner in the Published Mystery/Thrillers category
Death Angel by Martha Powers - second prize winner in the Published Mystery/Thrillers category.
Sponsored by the Florida Writers Association, The Royal Palm Literary Awards, designed to recognize “the best of the best,” is an annual awards program now in its sixth year. In 2005, the Royal Palm Literary Awards Committee introduced the rubric, a judging tool that breaks down eight criteria of great writing, allowing judges to do a step-by-step analysis of the author’s work. Entries are judged based on a 150-point system and only books receiving a cumulative score of 110 or higher are eligible to receive a Royal Palm Literary Award.
The Perfect Assassin (1-933515-01-5, $22.95) by Ward Larsen is a gripping tale of espionage and intrigue. The Perfect Assassin was also awarded the Silver Medal in both the Florida Book of the Year Awards and the ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Awards, named an award-winning finalist in the mystery/suspense category of both the Best Books 2006 Awards, sponsored by USA Book News, and the National Indie Excellence 2007 Awards, sponsored by PubInsider magazine. In addition, The Perfect Assassin was recently awarded the Gold Medal in the fiction category of the Military Writers Society of America’s Annual Book Awards.
Hailed as a don’t-start-this-one-late-at-night read, Death Angel (1-933515-03-1, $24.95) by Martha Powers was selected as a BookSense Pick and also named a finalist in the mystery/suspense category of both the Best Books 2006 Awards, sponsored by USA Book News, and the ForeWord Book of the Year Awards. Thorndike has purchased large print rights for Death Angel, and Doubleday Book Club has purchased book club rights for Death Angel.
Susan Greger, Publisher at Oceanview, stated, “It is our great delight to have two Oceanview titles among this year’s Royal Palm Literary Award Winners and we extend warm congratulations to Ward Larsen and Martha Powers, and all of the other winners and finalists.”
