Barrick Gold said raised $834 million from spinning off African Barrick Gold plc, the company said Wednesday.

 

The initial public offering produced 404 million shares to be traded in London under the stock symbol “ABG”. Barrick sold off about 25 percent of the new African Barrick Gold, or about 100 million shares, and retained the rest for itself.

 

African Barrick Gold is starting with about $280 million in cash, Barrick said.
