Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s may be Forced of Stage as The Romantics File Lawsuit

The Romantics may be breaking the hearts of 1980’s devotees as the Detroit, Michigan band is suing the maker’s of “Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s” claiming the popular video game used a soundalike of their hit single “What I Like About You” without their permission.

 

The lawsuit filed alleges that Activision Inc. infringed upon the band’s right’s to its own likeness.

 

According to the band’s attorney, Activision had permission to use the original song but was not given the go-ahead to create an imitation of the tune.

 

As a result of the lawsuit, the video game could be pulled from the shelves while the band seeks unspecified damages.

 

The Romantics hit No. 3 on the U.S. Hot 100 with their 1983 hit “Talking In Your Sleep.”
