Judge Rules Aruban Authorities Can Keep Deepak Kalpoe and Satish Kalpoe Behind Bars

Deepak Kalpoe and his brother, Satish, will remain behind bars following their arrest on Wednesday in connection to the disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway in 2005.

An Aruban judge declared there was enough evidence to keep the brothers behind bars while the investigation surrounding Holloway’s disappearance takes on new life. After running into a dead end nearly a year ago, Aruban authorities asked a Dutch team for help in the case.

The evidence uncovered by that Dutch team led to Wednesday’s arrest of not only the brothers but Joran van der Sloot as well. All three had been with Holloway on what was to be her final night on the island and are believed to be the last people to see her.

Shortly after Holloway disappeared the three men were arrested but eventually released because of insufficient evidence.

On Thursday a judge in the Netherlands ordered van der Sloot be transferred to Aruba to face questioning. Van der Sloot was being transported on Friday and is scheduled to appear before a judge on Monday to determine if there is enough evidence to continue holding him.
