Prosecutor: Evidence proves Natalee Holloway is dead

Aruba’s chief prosecutor says that there is enough evidence to prove that Natalee Holloway is dead even though the teen’s remains have not been found. Holloway went missing from Aruba two years ago while on an unofficial senior trip.

“There is no doubt in my mind that she’s dead…I think I have enough evidence to prove the girl is not alive anymore, even without a body,” said prosecutor Hans Mos. “You don’t need a body under our law to prove someone is dead. And any date that passes now is just more evidence that she is not alive anymore.”

Three men have been re-arrested in the 18-year-old’s death, renewing the world’s attention to the case. Joran van der Sloot, Deepak Kalpoe, and Satish Kalpoe were originally arrested after Holloway went missing but were released because of insufficient evidence. They are believed to be the last people to see the teen alive.

Sloot’s extradition to Aruba was ordered last week and he arrived in Aruba from the Netherlands on Friday. A judge ordered that the men could be held for al least 8 more days. They are charged with “involvement in the voluntary manslaughter of Natalee Holloway or causing serious bodily harm to Natalee Holloway, resulting in her death.”

Investigators say after re-examining existing evidence some discrepancies were found.
