Eunice Kennedy Shriver, sister of former president, hospitalized

Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the sister of former president John F. Kennedy, was hospitalized November 18 and is said to be in “fair condition.”

A spokesperson for the 86-year-old’s daughter, California first lady Maria Shriver, confirmed that Eunice was in the hospital but would not elaborate. “She has had many health challenges in the past several months, and in every case she has bounced back. I hope and expect it will be the same in this case,” said the spokesperson.

Shriver, who is also the sister of Senator Ted Kennedy, is the founder of the Special Olympics. She has received several awards for her work.
