Gaza Strip Border Clash Between Israeli Soldiers and Hamas Militants Leaves at least Four Dead

Israeli soldiers and Hamas militants clashed have clashed near the Gaza Strip border, leaving at least four dead and a number injured.

According to reports two Israeli troops were killed while two Palestinians were also left dead.

The fighting, just east of Khan Younis, was said to have erupted after Hamas militants attempted to capture an Israeli soldier. Those militants reportedly crossed the border in their attempt to capture the soldier but Israeli forces forced the militants back with heavy gunfire.

Hamas claimed responsibility for the two Israeli deaths but insisted it was for defensive purposes. Many now believe the Israeli military will retaliate with a more aggressive response.
