Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is returning home after undergoing successful surgery at a German hospital to remove his gall bladder and a growth in his small intestine.
Mubarak underwent the surgery on March 6 and had been recovering but was cleared to leave Heidelberg University Hospital after his chief doctor said he had “fully recovered.”
While Markus Buechler said the 81-year-old Mubarak had recovered he did recommend that the president continue “his convalescence back home during the coming two weeks before he gradually returns to full and normal activity.”
Mubarak has served as president in Egypt for 29 years and his fifth six-year term ends in 2011.
