HolidayLEDs.com and UglyChristmaslights.com want your pictures of the ugly, strange, and extraordinary holiday lighting displays. The pictures will be judged by a panel of judges from HolidayLEDs.com and UglyChristmaslights.com on various factors including tackiness, originality, creativity, and wackiness. The winner of the contest will be awarded a cash prize of $350. Second and third place prizes will also be awarded.
HolidayLEDs.com is a new e-commerce company specializing in energy-efficient LED Christmas lights. UglyChristmaslights.com is a website which has featured pictures of extraordinary Christmas light displays since 2002. “I was intrigued by the UglyChristmaslights.com site and was amazed by some of the submissions Santa has received over the years,” said Philip C. Curtis of HolidayLEDs.com. “Santa and I were chatting a bit one night online and thought it would be fun to have a contest this year,” added Curtis.
LED Christmas lights use between 80-90% less energy than standard incandescent lights and will last for more than 50,000 hours. “If you look at some of the pictures on my website you can almost hear the lights sucking energy,” said Santa. Using LED mini lights can save homeowners with large displays as substantial amount of money.
HolidayLEDs.com is providing the $350 first place cash prize, a $100 HolidayLEDs.com gift certificate for second place, and 3 sets of LED holiday lights for third place. Interested participants must submit their pictures of holiday lighting displays through HolidayLEDs.com no later than December 15. All submissions will be displayed on the UglyChristmaslights.com website. The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve.
