An Aruban judge ordered that Joran van der Sloot remain behind bars for another eight-days while the prosecution builds its case against the 20-year-old Dutch national who was arrested last Wednesday and charged with “involvement in the voluntary manslaughter of Natalee Holloway or causing serious bodily harm to Natalee Holloway, resulting in her death.”

Originally arrested in 2005 along with Deepak Kalpoe and Satish Kalpoe, the three were eventually released after a judge determined there was insufficient evidence in the prosecutor’s case against them.
The three are believed to be the last people to see Natalee Holloway alive. The 18-year-old high school graduate had been on the island with several classmates celebrating their recent graduation.
Holloway never arrived at the airport on the day the group was scheduled to leave.
From the start of the investigation van der Sloot and the two brothers were the focus of the investigation but the lack of evidence left little for prosecutors.
The investigation took a turn in the past few weeks after advanced techniques were used on existing evidence as well as reanalyzing existing evidence that had been processed improperly.
