Sean Taylor Dies from Gunshot Injury

Sean Taylor died early Tuesday morning, one day after being shot in the upper leg at his South Miami home during an apparent break-in.

Taylor was shot in the upper leg, the bullet piercing his femoral artery, causing a massive loss of blood. Shortly after rescue workers arrived Taylor was air lifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery to stop the bleeding.

Doctor’s feared the 24-year-old Washington Redskins safety had lost enough blood to cause brain damage, and cautioned that Taylor was still in a fight after surgery.

Taylor never regained consciousness.
