The Final Four has two of its pieces after the Butler Bulldogs and West Virginia Mountaineers punched their ticket on Saturday and on Sunday the picture will be complete as the Duke Blue Devils and Baylor Bears fight for their spot while the Michigan State Spartans and Tennessee Volunteers gun for the final slot.
The #1 Blue Devils have been impressive in the their run to the Elite Eight with an opening round win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff followed by a victory over California and then Purdue in the Sweet 16. The only problem for Duke is they haven’t put it all together yet and when they face the #3 Baylor Bears a bad game could cost them. Baylor has taken care of business in each of their games and their 23-point pounding of St. Mary’s in the Sweet 16 was one of the most impressive wins of the tournament.
The Midwest Region is certainly not showcasing the two teams that most picked to be in the regional final. Michigan State came in as the #5 seed and have found themselves in tight games in all three rounds but managed to survive. As for Tennessee, the #6 seed is the highest ranked team still remaining but also one of the most talented. Tennessee picked up wins over Kentucky and Kansas in the regular season and their composure in their victory over Ohio State was an example of how well they play the big game.
