Speedway Motorsports Inc., Scotts Turf Builder and Speedway Children’s Charities in conjunction with American Cornhole’s KING of the Campground Series have once again provided race fans with an awesome event at the Bristol Motor Speedway race this past weekend March 19-21. Two 64 team double-elimination tournaments were held on Friday and Saturday with the Championship match on Sunday morning.
Things got exciting early at the Scotts Turf Builder Gamezone as Friday night we welcomed 10 Legends drivers that signed autographs for the fans, talked racing and hung out for over an hour! Things picked up even more as Carl Edwards stopped by around 6:30pm to MC a special Cornhole challenge where 10 lucky teams were picked to play Cornhole with a legends driver. Carl hung out for about 30 minutes and interviewed some of Nascar racings greats and then took questions from the thousands of fans that had gathered.
Joe Montgomery, Director of Special Events for the ACO pointed out “The fact that as a fan, you could literally get right up close and personal with so many Legends of Nascar drivers made for a truly special night. Carl was great and spent plenty of time engaging the thousands of fans that came to hang out with us.”
Working with Scotts, the ACO has designed a tailgater GameZone that Cornhole tournaments will be played on. Along with 10 sets of ACO Tournament Series Cornhole Boards, there will be game challenges for all fans to participate in. “For the fans, this will be an 80’x80’ Cornhole-Mania tailgate zone that they can enjoy participating in their favorite tailgating activity and have the opportunity to win unbelievable prize packages” said Joe.
“Our Grand Champions were whisked away in a golf cart and taken into the track and had the opportunity to walk right over the finish line. Gary and David were then announced on the Pre-Race stage as the winners of the Scotts Turf Builder Charity Cornhole Classic. It is safe to say, this once in a lifetime opportunity will be a treasured memory for the guys.”
The ACO King of the Campground rolls into the Texas Motor Speedway middle of April. As the ACO and Scotts roll into May they will feature a special dual weekend event at Charlotte Motor Speedway starting with All Star Race weekend and carrying over to the Coca-Cola 600!
