Janet Jackson is expected to release her new album with Island Def Jam in February. The album has not yet been titled.
The artist is also preparing for a worldwide tour to promote the follow-up to 2006's "20 Y.O.", her last album under her Virgin Records contract.
Her recent role in Tyler Perry's "Why Did I Get Married?" has caused Jackson to change her agency as well to William Morris Agency. Her new agents, Dave Wirtschafter and Charles King, will cover everything for Jackson from film, touring, licensing and merchandising, television, theater, publishing and new technology.
Jackson's new album is being executive produced by Def Jam CEO Antonio "L.A." Reid rather than Jackson's boyfriend, Island Urban president Jermaine Dupri.
Dupri is working on Mariah Carey's new album, which should be out next spring.
