Police: Madeleine McCann was murdered by “panicked” abductor

Police have a new theory in the Madeleine McCann case which could clear the girl’s parents, Gerry and Kate McCann, of being suspects in her disappearance. According to reports, Portugal police believe Madeleine was murdered by her “panicked” abductor the night she went missing.

The 4-year-old was left alone with her two siblings in her parent’s holiday apartment while they ate with friends on May 3. When the McCann’s came back they discovered their daughter was gone and immediately notified police. The case has been highly publicized, but no trace of Madeleine has been found.

Police now believe Madeleine was murdered in the apartment after she screamed and her abductor panicked. They say the abductor accidentally suffocated Madeleine before fleeing with her body. Kate and Gerry McCann were named official suspects in their daughter’s disappearance, but this latest theory could clear their names.

Reports say the McCann’s are still adamant that Madeleine is alive.
