Joran van der Sloot Complains About Jail Treatment

Joran van der Sloot, the 20-year-old Dutch national being held on suspicion of manslaughter in the Natalee Holloway case, has complained about the restrictions placed upon him while in jail

On Monday an Aruban judge ordered van der Sloot held an addition eight days after reviewing new evidence presented by prosecutors. Since that time van der Sloot has complained that he has only been allowed visitation rights with his lawyers, and that he would like those visitation rights to include his family.

According to a CNN report Van der Sloot has also requested access to newspapers, magazines, TV, and a Bible.

Van der Sloot, along with brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe, were initially arrested in 2005 shortly after the disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway. All three were released after a judge ruled there was insufficient evidence to hold them.

Last week the three men were re-arrested after new evidence was gathered that supposedly ties the men to the crime. Van der Sloot was escorted to Aruba from the Netherlands where he was attending school.

The judge’s ruling on Monday allowed prosecutors to keep van der Sloot behind bars until Dec. 7 while they gather additional evidence and complete their interrogations.
