NFL Star Accused of Attacking Woman

According to a recent lawsuit filed in Florida, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes got into a verbal argument with a woman in an Orlando nightclub on March 7 before throwing a glass at her face. According to the alleged victim, the glass caused a laceration on her face, close to her eye. After the attack, she says, both Holmes and the police pressured her not to press charges, with Holmes even offering her money. Unfortunately, this would not be the first time that Holmes has faced legal problems. He was arrested twice in 2006, once for disorderly conduct and another time for domestic violence and assault. In 2008, he was arrested for possession or marijuana. Needless to say, this kind of history will not reflect too well on Holmes if he has to defend himself in court any time soon.

Santonio Holmes may not be having the best luck off the field, but when it comes to his performance in the NFL, he is a true legend. In 2008, he was named the Super Bowl XLIII MVP after having led the Steelers to their 6th ever Super Bowl title. Before that, in 2007, he had led the NFL with 18.1 yards per reception. Considering that he began his professional football career in 2006, these are quite the accomplishments.
