NCAA Final Four Teams: Weekend Review
Four Teams Left for the Championship Title
On Saturday and Sunday, the Elite Eight competed for their chance to play in the national semifinals as one of the NCAA Final Four. Overall, the games were very exciting, and some of the final results may have come as a surprise to many. On Saturday, we saw two of the most surprising games of the tournament so far. First, we saw top-seeded Kentucky lose to 2nd-seeded West Virginia 66-73. With their victory, the West Virginia Mountaineers secured their first place in the Final Four since 1959. Then, we saw 5th seed Butler beat 2nd seed Kansas State 63-56 to secure their spot in the Final Four competition in their hometown, Indianapolis. On Sunday, Michigan State beat Tennessee by a single point (70-69) and first-seeded Duke defeat Baylor 78-71. The results of the Sunday games were not as surprising as those from Saturday, but the games were easily some of the most intense in the tournament so far. The Final Four games, then, will pit top-seeded Duke against second-seeded West Virginia; and Michigan State vs. Butler, both seeded at 5. With the national semifinals scheduled for April 3, these Final Four teams are sure to be preparing for what will very likely be some of the most watched and most entertaining televised basketball games of the year.
