Duke and Krzyzewski Return to Final Four
Legendary College Team and Coach Run for Title
Mike Krzyzewski hasn't won a Final Four NCAA Championship title since 2001, but he may be well on his way to winning his fourth championship title as coach for the Duke Blue Devils. On Sunday, top-seeded Duke beat Baylor 78-71 to secure their opportunity to compete for another championship title on April 5th - that is, of course, if they beat 2nd-seeded West Virginia on the 3rd. The Blue Devils have been in the Final Four over 10 times, but they have only won the championship title 3 times, and those were all under the leadership of Krzyzewski. Sunday's victory marked the end of the longest Final Four drought that the team has suffered since 1986. After the game, Krzyzewski said, "I'm really happy for this group. ... It's as close a team as I've had. You want great things to happen for people who are great with us." Coach Mike Krzyzweski is a Hall of Fame coach who has led Duke to 11 Final Fours and 7 Championship Games. In 2008, he led the U.S. Men's basketball team to a Gold Medal at the Olympics. Given the extent and nature of his various accomplishments, Krzyzewski is widely regarded as one of the best basketball coaches of all time.
