Lauren Barnes Search Continues, Police Focus on Text Message

Bethany, Oklahoma police are continuing their search for a 20-year-old pregnant woman who disappeared Friday night after telling her mother she was going out to meet a friend.

Lauren Barnes was last seen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday when she told her mother she was going out with a friend. Police received a call on Saturday from the mother stating that her daughter never returned and reported her missing.

According to police reports Barnes had gone to Eldon Lyon Park to speak with a man who may have been her unborn child’s father. On Sunday police discovered her abandoned car at the park.

The focus of the investigation has turned to a text message that may have been sent by Barnes at about 8:40 p.m. on Friday. Fears have risen because Barnes takes a prescription blood thinner and she did not have the medication with her when she left on Friday.
