Songwriter Lonnie Heckman dies at 38

Lonny Heckman died this morning at 38 years old. The songwriter passed away after having kidney failure complications. He is best known for his song “When I See Beth Smiling,” which he wrote for radio jock Howard Stern.

Heckman wrote the song about Stern’s fiancé, model Beth Ostrosky. Stern began airing the song on his radio station in September. Heckman hoped the song would be sung at the couple’s wedding next summer.
