U.S. Stocks rose Monday, with Boeing (NYSE:BA), Caterpillar (NYSE:CAT) and Alcoa (NYSE:AA) among the gainers as the Dow Jones Industrial Average reached a fresh 18-month closing high following reports of improved Texas-area manufacturing activity and an increase in personal spending.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 45.50 points, or 0.42%, to 10895.86, its highest close since Sept. 26, 2008.
