Exploding Cell Phone Blamed in Man’s Death

A South Korean man’s death is being attributed to an exploding cell phone that he was carrying in his shirt pocket.

While no official cause has been announced, police suspect that the battery of the phone exploded, causing the man to die. He was found on Wednesday morning at his workplace and inside his shirt pocket was his cell phone and a melted battery.

The maker of the cell phone, LG Electronics, has acknowledged that the phone was a product of theirs but cast doubt on a battery explosion as cause of death.

The incident took place about 85 miles south of Seoul in the city of Cheongwon.
