High School Summer Programs Help Improve Chances of Getting into College
SuperCamp, the leading provider of learning and life skills summer enrichment programs, has announced that its Senior Forum high school summer camps are nearing capacity for summer 2010.
Joe Chapon, vice president of Quantum Learning Network, the company that operates middle school and high school summer programs at college campuses across the U.S., indicated today that enrollments in the 13 Senior Forum sessions have picked up dramatically in the last three weeks.
"Registrations in March are well ahead of last year," said Chapon. "What we're hearing from parents is that they're very concerned about their kids being able to get into a good college and they know that SuperCamp can help."
SuperCamp helps high school students prepare for college by teaching them new learning skills that they can apply to all subjects. The learning skills address such areas as reading comprehension, reading speed, problem solving, critical thinking, creative writing, and identifying and using one's optimal learning style.
SuperCamp also enables high school students to gain new confidence and motivation through a series of exercises that help them set new goals, break through barriers, move outside their comfort zone, and gain new focus, communication skills and leadership skills.
In a study of SuperCamp graduates who have completed high school, 77 percent reported going directly into a four-year college. This figure compares to the national average of 46 percent, as reported by the U.S. Department of Education. Forty-one percent of SuperCamp graduates surveyed also reported receiving some college scholarship money.
