FARC Rebels to Release Colombian Soldier after 12 Years of Captivity

A Colombian soldier seized 12 years ago by the left-wing rebel group FARC is due to be released on Tuesday.

According to reports a Brazilian military helicopter is due to pick up Sgt Pablo Emilio Moncayo at a destination agreed upon by members of FARC and delegates from the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Moncayo was seized by the rebels when he was just 19-years-old.

On Sunday FARC released another soldier but they still hold about 20 members of Colombia’s security forces and have said they will not release any more after Moncayo until the government agrees to negotiate.
