Sean Taylor's family has scheduled a funeral service for 11 a.m. Monday at Pharmed Arena at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami. Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder is arranging for the entire football organization to attend.
Taylor was shot Monday morning after an intruder broke into his house. Taylor was awakened from his bed, where his girlfriend and 18-month old daughter were lying, reached for a machete and confronted the intruder. The intruder shot at Taylor twice, one hit his leg, severing his femoral artery.
Taylor passed away Tuesday morning.
At Redskins Park in Ashburn, Va., Taylor's family and teammates came together to privately share tears and memories.
Team chaplain Brett Fuller said Taylor's father, Pedro, gave a 10-minute speech, which was followed by 10 minutes of affection and kind words.
Sean Taylor's brother, sister and uncle were also in attendance, in addition to his girlfriend, Jackie Garcia, who also addressed the team.
