Rodney King Recovering from Gunshot Wounds

Rodney King, the man filmed being beaten by four Los Angeles police officers in 1991, is recovering after suffering superficial gunshot wounds on Wednesday evening.

According to Sgt. Don Lewis of the Rialto, California Police Department King was grazed on his face, arm, torso and back. King was able to ride his bicycle back home before calling police to report the incident.

The Rodney King beating in 1991 set off several days of rioting in Los Angles that led to at least 55 deaths and more than $1 billion in damages. All four of the officers involved in the beating were acquitted of the charges they faced but two were eventually found guilty of violating King’s civil rights.

No suspects have been named in the King shooting.
