Newspaper publisher A. H. Belo Corporation (NYSE:AHC) today filed a Form 12b-25, Notification of Late Filing, with the Securities and Exchange Commission in connection with its Annual Report on Form 10-K for the year ended December 31, 2009.  The Company's Annual Report on Form 10-K was due on March 31, 2010, and the Company extended the filing deadline 15 calendar days.

A. H. Belo Corporation is not able to timely file its 2009 Form 10-K without unreasonable effort or expense because, as stated in the Company's February 12, 2010 press release and in its preliminary earnings release dated February 24, 2010, additional time is required to finalize the accounting treatment of its pension obligations.  This involves both the determination of the accounting policy to be applied and the amount, if any, to be recorded pursuant to that policy.  The Company's 2009 financial statements otherwise are substantially complete.
