Body of Lauren Barnes Discovered in Wildlife Refuge

The body of Lauren Barnes, a 20-year-old pregnant woman from Bethany, Oklahoma, was found on Friday at a wildlife refuge in northwest Oklahoma City.

Barnes had been missing since Friday night after she told her mother she was going to meet a friend. It is believed Barnes met Eric Phan at Eldon Lyon Park in Bethany to talk about the paternity of the unborn child. After she didn’t return home her mother called police on Saturday.

Police began their search for the woman with nearly 200 volunteers helping but by Wednesday the search was called off as investigators began preparing for a homicide case.

On Thursday police received a tip that a body had been dumped at a wildlife refuge in Oklahoma City and on Friday morning the body of Lauren Barnes was discovered.

Phan turned himself in to police on Wednesday and is being held at the Oklahoma County Jail but he is yet to be charged with a crime.
