Three Hayden High School Cheerleaders Dead, Four Injured

Three Hayden High School cheerleaders dead and four others were injured Thursday night in a traffic accident near Hayden, AL.

The accident happened shortly after 9 p.m. about 10 miles east of Hayden on Alabama 160.

The seven teenagers were cheerleaders at Hayden High. They were returning from gymnastics training in Oneonta when the wreck happened.

The victims were identified as Sarah Casey, Courtney Niceley and Whitney Bradford. All were 17 years old. The injured, all 17, were listed as Sarah Agee, who was taken to St. Vincent's East; and Brittany Lovejoy and Ariel Niblett, who were taken to UAB Hospital. Alexandria Thomas, age 16, was also injured and taken to Children's Hospital where she was listed in good condition.

Agee was treated and released from St. Vincent East. Lovejoy and Niblett both are listed in fair condition at UAB.

All Hayden High School athletic events have been canceled until the last funeral has been held, school officials said.
