Global Payments Inc. (NYSE: GN) reported Tuesday that it has appointed investment banker Jeffrey Sloan to be its president, according to Associated Press.
Sloan is a managing director and partner at Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE: GS), where he runs the bank's financial technology group and has led Goldman's banking activities for the payments industry.

Current Global Payments president James Kelly will remain on as chief operating officer. Kelly has been COO since 2005, and has been president since 2008.
Its stock closed up 45 cents Tuesday at $46.32.
