Charges Filed Against Three Men in Sean Taylor Death

The shooting death of Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor led to three men being charged with felony first-degree murder on Saturday in a Fort Myers, Florida courtroom.

Each of the men now face burglary with a firearm and home invasion robbery with a weapon charges in addition to the murder charge.

Police arrested four men in the murder of Sean Taylor; the fourth will appear in court to hear charges on Sunday.

Eric Rivera Jr., 17, was the only suspect that appeared in the courtroom on Saturday while Venjah K. Hunte, 20, and Charles Kenrick Lee Wardlow, 18, heard charges via a video phone from jail. Jason Scott Mitchell, 19, will be in the courtroom to hear the same charges on Sunday.

According to police, the four men expected to find Taylor’s house unoccupied when they broke in early Monday morning. Taylor’s girlfriend, Jackie Garcia, told police that the couple was awoken by noise coming from the living room and Taylor got out of bed and locked the door. She then said the men kicked the door in and shot Taylor, striking him in the leg and piercing an artery.

Taylor died from his wounds on Tuesday.
