Energy Stock Gains With Crude (XOM, CVX, COP, BP, TOT)

Several Energy Stocks jumped on Thursday as Crude oil climbed trading just below $85 mark after the Labor Department said 439,000 Americans filed initial jobless claims, down 6,000 from the prior week. Economists surveyed by MarketWatch had expected a result of 443,000.

Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM), the second largest company with a market cap of over $316 billion, jumped 0.57% to $67.36.

 

Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX) rose 1% to $76.61 on high volume.

 

ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) surged 0.92% to $51.64.

 

BP plc (ADR) (NYSE:BP) climbed 1% to $57.65.

 

TOTAL S.A. (ADR) (NYSE:TOT) gained 1.60% to $58.95. French oil group Total and Sonangol have discovered hydrocarbons in the northeastern area of the deep offshore block 17/06, which is Total's principal asset in Angola. Drilled to 453 meters, the well produced more than 6,000 barrels a day of high quality oil during a production test, the company said. Total has a 30% stake and is the operator of the block.
