Kindred Healthcare Inc (NYSE:KND) Announces Retirement of Frank Battafarano

Kindred Healthcare, Inc. (NYSE:KND) has announced the retirement of Frank Battafarana who served as the Chief Operating Officer for the company.  Battafarana will be succeeded by Benjami Breier who is the Executive Vice President and President of Kindred’s Hospital Division.  The changes will be effective when a new President of the Hospital Division has been named.  A search for Breier’s successor has already begun.

Breier previously served as the Senior Vice President of Operations at Concentra, Inc. before joining Kindred Healthcare.  There he employed more than 1,000 physicians and 1,000 physical therapists.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.  He also has an MBA and MHA from The University of Miami.

 

Kindred Healthcare, Inc. (Kindred) is a healthcare services company that through its subsidiaries operates hospitals, nursing and rehabilitation centers and a contract rehabilitation services business across the United States. As of December 31, 2009, its hospital division operated 83 long-term acute care (LTAC) hospitals in 24 states. The Company’s health services division operated 222 nursing and rehabilitation centers in 27 states. It also operated a contract rehabilitation services business that provides rehabilitative services primarily in long-term care settings. The Company operates in three divisions: the hospital division, the health services division and the rehabilitation division. The hospital division operates LTAC hospitals. The health services division operates nursing and rehabilitation centers. The rehabilitation division provides rehabilitation services in long-term care settings. In June 2009, it purchased for resale six under-performing nursing centers.
